WER Summer Interns

We are excited to welcome four architectural interns to WER for the summer! We have a full summer of fun ahead of them all and would love for you to stop by and say hi when in the neighborhood.

 

Christian Brack is an intern in WER’s Little Rock office. Originally from Bryant, Christian is living in Stillwater, Oklahoma where he is studying at Oklahoma State University’s Donald W. Reynold School of Architecture. He just completed a study abroad to Asia, and will enter his fourth year of his undergraduate program in the fall. Christian is especially interested in sustainable design.

Hobbies: hiking, sketching, running and reading

Favorite Architects: Fumihiko Maki, Francis Kere and Tadao Ando

 

Matthew Findlay is an intern in WER’s Fayetteville office. Originally from Little Rock, Matthew is living in Fayetteville where he is studying architecture at the University of Arkansas’s Fay Jones School of Architecture. He will begin his last year of undergraduate program, studying abroad in Italy during the fall semester. Matthew is particularly interested in timber construction.

Hobbies: kayaking, drawing, playing basketball and spending time with friends

Favorite Architects: Richard Neutra, Fay Jones and Shigeru Bond

 

Ty O’Neal is an intern in WER’s Little Rock office. He is from West Monroe, Louisiana, and is studying architecture at Louisiana Tech University. Ty graduated in May with his Bachelor of Architectural Studies with a Minor in Business Administration, and started his Master of Architecture this June. What Ty loves most about architecture is being able to show creativity and designing welcoming atmospheres for people to occupy. He is most interested in how to use daylighting strategies and local, natural materials to create great spaces.

Hobbies: playing golf, disc golf, watching the Phillies play and spending time with friends

Favorite Architects: Daniel Libeskind and Frank Lloyd Wright

 

Drew Verkler is an intern at WER in Little Rock. He will be going into his last year of architecture at the University of Arkansas, and will be studying abroad next fall in Italy. Drew wanted to come back home for the summer and intern at an office where he can impact the area where he grew up, as he is originally from Greenbrier, Arkansas. He loves how architecture can benefit a community and improve everyday life. Drew is interested in the sustainability aspects of architecture and how it impacts our planet.

Hobbies: anything outside from kayaking to camping or playing basketball with friends

Favorite Architects: Peter Zumthor, Fay Jones and Stephen Holl
