Little Rock Cardiology, now a component of Arkansas Heart Hospital, selected the WER team to design a new facility that would provide for their clinic on two floors, leaving the upper and lower floors for future expansion and additional medical tenants. Since this was an owner-occupied development, design began with determining the clinical needs and fitting a building envelope around those specific functions as a truly integrated, long term solution.  

The patient experience was paramount throughout the design and began as they entered the site with easy access parking and building entry. Main patient waiting areas and reception areas stack above one another and the entrance lobby to reinforce and maintain path consistency as some cardiology patients present post-operative confusion. Simple wayfinding and the use of daylight creates a comforting patient experience while a modular approach to the clinic space facilitates operational efficiencies and maintains high-level care. 

WER assisted in the final expansion needs for the facility as well. This incorporated cardiac rehab, imaging, and the first outpatient cardiac catheterization suite in the state of Arkansas.
