WER Architects was asked to design a new Corporate Office for Hospice Home Care, a local organization whose focus has been on providing hospice care to patients and their families living in Arkansas for the last 25 years. Their company’s mission is to concentrate on managing a patient’s pain and other symptoms first and foremost, while also providing emotional and spiritual support to the family.
Our design team was tasked with designing not just an office facility but a warehouse on the same site. The Hospice Home Care site is on a beautiful tree covered property.
WER designed the building to capture the north and south natural daylight as well as the views. The exterior design and main entry feature natural materials to celebrate the landscape and setting.
The interiors of the office are designed for two different parts of the organization - a corporate office and field operations. Both have distinct functions with corporate running the business/finance/management side and field operations being responsible for the day to day patient service, getting the right supplies and equipment in homes and staff along with counseling patients and families. Both office areas utilize pre-manufactured interior wall systems with glass fronts and sliding office doors to support collaboration, transparency and bring natural light into the corridors and interior spaces. The center of the facility features common functions - lobby and reception, the break room and training room. Off the common break room is a large exterior patio for lunches and office functions.
Adjacent to the office building is a 5,000 sq/ft warehouse where all Hospice Home Care supplies are available. These include all necessary medical equipment from walkers and wheelchairs to beds and oxygen tanks for home distribution. This facility also features a sterilization area to clean equipment when returned from use.
