WER Architects, in association with HEWV, designed Founders Hall, a six story mixed-use building in the heart of the University of Arkansas’ campus. The University wanted to add the mixed-use residence hall adjacent to its existing dining facility which caused some challenges during construction. The site is very long and narrow and being in the heart of the campus meant constant pedestrian traffic.

Retail and restaurant space occupy the first and second floor, with a mix of food court style and traditional dining hall seating. A new breezway also connets Founders Hall to the existing campus dining facility.

Living spaces are a traditional double room occupancy with 214 beds and semi-private bathrooms. Common spaces throughout the building include study rooms, conferencing rooms, living spaces and a full kitchen.

The 6th floor of the building utilizes much of the attic space. This created unique opportunities for large rooms and student suites, allowing for multiple furniture arrangements and carved out study spaces throughout the building.
