The Arkansas Department of Emergency Management built its headquarters in the heart of Camp Robinson, North Little Rock, home to the Arkansas National Guard.

The new headquarters, hardened against impact and roughly twice the size of the previous one near Conway, houses a command center, training rooms and administrative offices for 77 employees on two floors.

The Emergency Operations Center is equipped with the most advanced telecommunications equipment available, and operates independent of external utilities for an extended period of time.

The project was constructed in September 2005 under an alternative delivery process that allowed selection of the general contractor and initial site work before completion of the overall building design.

This “fast track” process saved over a year in the total construction time and roughly one million dollars in project construction cost. The total construction schedule was approximately two and a half years.
