The University of Arkansas chemistry building was in need of dire repair. WER Architects designed a multi-phased full renovation of the facility, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, including new laboratories, classrooms, seminar rooms, office space for the chemistry department and ancillary staff. The project also included the restoration of historic materials on the exterior and interior corridors and lobbies. Restoration work included stone patching, tuckpointing, crack repair, cleaning, brick cleaning, plaster repair, terrazzo repairs, historic light fixture restoration and wood door/millwork restoration. This project was awarded the McGraw Hill South Central Construction Best Education Project Award and a Historic Preservation Alliance Award.
