Designed to fill a gap in the lack of activity spaces for non-athletic / non-intramural students on campus, the WER Architects team worked with SAU leadership to create the two level Student Activity Center. The facility houses a recreational size basketball court with bleachers and Student Activity Offices along with expansion space for a future equipment rental program, all on the lower level. Multi-purpose group exercise rooms, circuit training, free weights, cardio theater, jogging track, lockers and smoothie bar are located on the upper level. Operable partitions can open the multi-purpose aerobic rooms for larger functions including Friday night movies and other campus community events. A high degree of transparency and connectivity between exercise areas provide the student community with a lively and active facility for fitness and overall well-being. This facility was awarded an ASID Excellence in Design Gold Award.
