Arkansas Repertory Theatre

Little Rock, Arkansas

Founded in 1976, the Arkansas Repertory Theatre is the state’s largest non-profit professional theater company. The WER Architects team was apart of the original architect team for converting this building in the 1980′s and then the major renovation project in 2012. This 385-seat theater is housed in a three-story 1900′s general retail building, a challenging rehabilitation project. The theater includes an experimental 99-seat black box theater on the upper floors, with the lobby doubling as an art gallery. Exterior work included glazed brick repair, replacement of missing sections of the cornice, and storefront and upper floor window replacement and repair. The original Arkansas Repertory Theatre project won both state and regional AIA Design Awards, and an Arkansas Times Interior Design Award.
